My 2017 Mock Draft

Draft day is finally here. It has taken me some time to come up with a nice first round but here are my picks. If you are expecting to see quarterback Mitchell Trubisky in my first round you can now exit stage left please, but if you want to see a good first round you are welcome to read. My first round is heavy with defensive players and I didn’t factor in trades this is straight up. I do expect some switch ups early on with Cleveland and Tennessee but I’m not really sure.
1. Cleveland Browns – Myles Garrett, DE, Texas A&M, The Browns need a good safe pick. They have had so many first rounds picks that they have messed up. Garrett is a good pick he will get their defense started on the right track.
2. San Francisco 49ers – Solomon Thomas, DE, Standford, Thomas is a versatile player, he can play defensive end or tackle. He will pair well with DeForest Buckner and he will immediately change the 49ers defensive front line.
3. Chicago Bears – Jamal Adams, S, LSU, After watching the Bears last season you noticed they needed a lot of help in the secondary. Adams will be a perfect fit, he is a hard-hitting coverage safety who will be great in the NFL.
4. Jacksonville Jaguars – Leonard Fournette, RB, LSU, Okay, so Fournette is not the best back in the draft to me, but I think he fits well with the Jags. At first, I was going to have Jonathan Allen in this spot, but I changed my mind. Fournette is a big hard runner, if he can stay healthy and get that second level speed he will have a long career.
5. Tennessee Titans – Reuben Foster, LB, Alabama, Tennessee needs help on defense. Why not grab Foster? I don’t think his draft stocked dropped because of his diluted test. He is still a No. 5 pick in my mind.
6. New York Jets – Deshawn Watson, QB, Clemson, Before the Jets pick up any more offensive weapons they need someone to throw the ball to. If the Jets don’t grab him they will miss out.
7. Los Angeles Chargers – Malik Hooker, S, Ohio State, The Chargers need a whole new defense and this is a great way to start.
8. Carolina Panthers – Christian McCaffrey, RB, Stanford, The Panthers need to put some weapons around Cam Newton. He needs help. He can’t do it all by himself.
9. Cincinnati Bengals – Haason Reddick, LB, Temple, This is one of the Bengals needs. They need more talent on their defense.
10. Buffalo Bills – DeShone Kizer, QB, Notre Dame, The Bills are in a dying need of some more offensive weapons. They need a WR because Sammy Wakins can’t stay healthy and they need a quarterback who can run around and Kizer is that man.
11. New Orleans Saints – Marshon Lattimore, CB, Ohio State, Talent wise Lattimore should go higher than 11th, but the Saints should look at it as a gift that everyone has pushed him down in the draft due to his hamstring issue. They need help on defense they can score but they can’t stop anyone from scoring.
12. Cleveland Browns – Patrick Mahomes, QB, Texas Tech, Baby… Mahomes can slang that thing. He can launch the ball down the field with ease. Cleveland needs a quarterback who knows the game and who is ready to play. This is a great pick for number 12.
13. Arizona Cardinals – Mike Williams, WR, Clemson, It’s simple Williams is a big target that can come down with the ball. The Cardinals need that. He will free up other players because he will have to be double teamed. He can’t be stopped one-on-one.
14. Philadelphia Eagles – Gareon Conley, CB, Ohio State, Like the Saints and other teams the Eagles are missing a cover corner, why not Conley? He ran a 4.44 at the combine, so he will be able to keep up with the fast wide receivers in the league, like Dez Bryant, Odell Beckham Jr, and others. He will be a great CB.
15. Indianapolis Colts – Cam Robinson, OT, Alabama, Andrew Luck will continue to get thrown around like a rag doll unless the Colts get someone to protect him. Not only can Robinson protect him but he is a great run blocker as well. He will be a great pick up for the Colts.
16. Baltimore Ravens – John Ross, WR, Washington, Joe Flacco has no one to throw the ball to and seeing that he can’t throw it to himself, he needs some receivers. Ross has crazy some speed so he will get open, and he will help open up the run game. Not too many defenders will be able to keep up with him.
17. Washington – Jarrad Davis, LB, Florida, Washington needs help with their interior defense. They improved by grabbing defensive tackle Terrell McClain in free agency. With Davis as a three-down tackle and the speed to cover tight ends, Davis and McClain will give this defense a nice boost.
18. Tennessee Titans – Fabian Moreau, CB, UCLA, Injury has taken Moreau out of first round talks but I wouldn’t steer away from him. He is 6 foot, 206 pounds and he runs a 40 in 4.35 and he is built like a running back. He will be great in the NFL.
19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Dalvin Cook, RB, Florida State, Because so many people are sleeping on my man Cook this will be a perfect matchup for the Bucc to have two former teammates playing together. Cook is a complete back, he has the speed, the size and he can catch out of the backfield. It’s not too much more you can ask for. He will be a game changer, his run style reminds me of Le’Veon Bell.
20. Denver Broncos – Ryan Ramczyk, OT, Wisconsin, Ramczyk can play tackle but he will be better as a guard. He is lacking the speed to stop defensive ends coming off the edge but he will handle most DLs with ease.
21. Detroit Lions – O.J. Howard, TE, Alabama, Honestly I’m not a huge fan of Alabama players once they get into the league but he might be a good one. No team is really in a dying need of a tight end but I think this is a good grab for the Lions because there isn’t really a must grab DT on the board right now.
22. Miami Dolphins – Charles Harris, OLB, Missouri, Harris has a first quick step that will make him a nightmare for offensive tackles. He will be great in the pass rush game.
23. New York Giants – David Njoku, TE, Miami, Njoku is a hard nose tight end that will work extremely hard. He will put his hand in the dirt and move people on a running play, then go beat a defensive back on a pass play.
24. Oakland Raiders – Kevin King, CB, Washington, King is long and fast. He can play both CB and safety and he is a very physical tackler. He will be a great addition to the Raiders already nice defense.
25. Houston Texans – Joshua Dobbs, QB, Tennessee, The Texans needed to get a ready to go quarterback through free agency but Dobbs is still a good pick up. He is probably the smartest QB in the draft, his knowledge of the game is great. He also has a very good physical skill set with size, arm strength, and mobility.
26. Seattle Seahawks – Garett Bolles, OT, Utah, Bolles is the most athletic offensive lineman in the draft. He has the speed and the lateral movement to be a starting tackle. He needs to get a little stronger on his bottom half but will be great in protecting Russell Wilson.
27. Kansas City Chiefs – Zach Cunningham, LB, Vanderbilt, Cunningham is the whole package. He is long, athletic, strong and quick. He really fits in today’s game. He will key in third down situations.
28. Dallas Cowboys – Adoree’ Jackson, CB, USC, So Jackson has been ignored which isn’t smart. Even though he is small he is a great man-to-man corner. He is very explosive and versatile.
29. Green Bay Packers – Chidobe Awuzie, CB, Colorado, Green Bay’s defense sucks long story short. Awuzie can guard players one-on-one you can put him as a safety in a nickel package the choice is yours, but he needs to be on the Packers roster.
30. Pittsburgh Steelers – Jabrill Peppers, S, Michigan, What you do know is that Peppers is going to give his all. I know that he has felt in the draft due to injury and a diluted drug test, but the boy is good. He can play ball. I do have my doubt but with some training, he will most definitely be a playmaker.
31. Atlanta Falcons – Derek Barnett, DE, Tennessee, Even though he doesn’t wow most people on tape he can do a lot. He is great in 3-4 defense. He is a natural football player and will be able to adapt to anything.
32. New Orleans Saints – Josh Jones, S, NC State, He lacks experience but he has a nice combination of skills. He has ball skills, speed, and size. I would take a chance on him. The Saints will find a way to use him.
