Washington Promotes Greg Manusky

The Team from Washington did not go far in their search for a new defensive coordinator. It took just over two-weeks but they promoted outside linebacker coach Greg Manusky.

Manusky got the job after Joe Barry was fired on Jan. 6th.

Washington interviewed a number of candidates in along with Manusky: Gus Bradley, Mike Pettine, Jason Tarver, Rob Ryan, John Pagano and Dennis Thurman. they had hopes of talking to Carolina’s Steve Wilks, but he was named the Panthers’ new defensive coordinator last week. Washington are also interested in Houston’s Romeo Crennel, should he become available. Bradley seemed to be their top choice, but he opted for the Los Angeles Chargers'(sidetone: that’s wired to say now) position Friday.

Washington cleaned house and also fired defensive backs coach Perry Fewell and defensive line coach Robb Akey on Jan. 6. They retained inside linebackers coach Kirk Olivadotti and hope to promote Aubrey Pleasant from assistant defensive backs coach to defensive backs coach. The Chargers are also interested in hiring Pleasant.
