The San Francisco 49ers ended their season with a 25-23 loss to the Seattle Seahawks and a 2-14 record. To say the least they need too think about up rooting the entire team almost and starting over on an entirely new chalk board.
As of right now general manager Trent Baalke confirmed to a local radio station (KNBR) that he had been fired.
“You know, I’ve bee her since 2005, and I have a lot of respect for the organization as a whole, and the ownership, the fan base. It’s difficult, but it’s the right thing to do.”
ESPN’ s Adam Schefter reported on Saturday that San Francisco was expected to make sweeping changes, firing both head coach Chip Kelly and Baalke.
In my personal opinion Kelly needs to be fired. I feel like the decision with playing quarterback Colin Kaepernick in the beginning of the season had more to do with personal feelings than really playing the player who would put the team in the best position to win. When Kaepernick finally got his number called up he was clearly the player to start.
When it comes to the draft the 49ers need a difference maker on both sides of the ball. Most people would say they need a new quarterback but lets not forget Kaepernick lead the 49ers to a Super Bowl in 2013 where they lost to the Baltimore Ravens 34-31. I feel like they can build around Kaepernick but there needs to be a real-life impacter on the team.
Kaepernick reconfigured his contract, trading an injury guarantee for the chance to opt out and become a free agent this offseason. If he decides not to opt out the 49ers can build around him as a young quarterback who can run and throw.
Seeing that Kelly is on his way out the 49ers need to find them a good coach that can build this team up. No matter what they do during the offseason the turn around will not happen right way. Niners’s fan will have to wait about three years to see some change in this franchise but the change will come if it’s done right.
