Buffalo Bills general manger Doug Whaley is in charge of a roster of 90 human beings but he doesn’t exactly think that people are built to play the sport of football.
“This is the game of football,” he told WGR 550 radio. “Injuries are part of it. It’s a violent game that I personally don’t think humans are supposed to play.”
That response was just a piece of an answer to a question about weather or not star receiver Sammy Watkins is injury-prone. He explained that he didn’t think that Watkins was injury prone but injuries are apart of the game and they happen.
Watkins underwent surgery this offseason to repair a broken foot. He is expected to miss training camp and the preseason.
Even though this response was wrapped into a larger question how does Whaley feel comfortable making money off of the men that he doesn’t feel should play the game of football? If he thinks that humans shouldn’t play football why become a general manger? Those are question Whaley really needs to answer. Maybe the money is just to good for him to walk away and he puts his thoughts and personal morals to the side.
