New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith was punched today in the locker room at training camp. The person punching was 2014 sixth round draft pick IK Enemkpali. The two had a dispute over $600 plane ticket.

Smith borrowed $600 from Enemkpali for a plane ticket to come to the reserve linebacker’s camp in Pflugerville, Texas. When Smith did not show Enemkpali demanded his money back. Smith said he would refund the money but did not by Tuesday morning. Enkempali confronted Smith and things went left.

Ending with Smith’s jaw broke in two fractions. He will be out for 6 to 10 weeks.

Enkempali was released immediately from the team. Smith has not yet said if he will be pressing charges.

My question is why did Smith need to go to the linebacker’s camp? Also why couldn’t Smith pay for his own plane ticket?
