The Arizona Cardinals are making history. Today the Cardinals hired Jen Welter as an assistant coach for training camp and preseason to work with inside linebackers. She is the first…let me repeat that the first female coach of any kind in the NFL.

In February, Welter became the first female coach in a men’s professional football league when hired by the Texas Revolution of the Indoor Football League to coach linebackers and special teams. She also was the first woman to play a non-kicking position in a men’s professional football league when she played running back for the Revolution.

She will join linebacker’s coaches Bob Sanders, Larry Foote and Levon Kirkland.

First a female referee now a female coach. Move over men the ladies are making way.
