Ray Rice hasn’t even received a phone call for a workout for a team. Why I wonder? Yesterday, NFLPA executive director DeMaurice Smith pretty heavily suggested that there’s a concerted effort by owners to keep Ray Rice out of the league. Smith was quoted saying “This, unfortunately, is a league that has a history of blackballing players. I find it hard to believe that a player of Mr. Rice’s caliber hasn’t at least gotten one offer from a team to come work out,” Smith said.
I don’t think that Rice is being blackballed, that is a strong term to used. While I do think that teams are scared to touch Rice because he is bad for business. Signing Rice would bring on so much controversy and a lot of lost of money. Rice has now become the face of domestic violence in the NFL because there was video evidence to show him hitting his wife.
I don’t think it s fair for Rice to be the face of domestic violence when the league had multiple players that have been in trouble for domestic violence. I feel that he deserves a second chance. We live in the land of second chances. Also there are players like Greg Hardy and Ray McDonald who have had their second chance and I think Rice deserves his. I just think teams are scared to touch him because he like a nuclear bomb and he is bad for business.
