Thursday afternoon running back Adrian Peterson released a string of tweets saying the NFL should have the same guaranteed contracts that players in other sports have. In fact I do agree with Peterson that the most popular sport in America should have guaranteed contracts but I don’t agree with the facts that AP stated it.
From a public relation standpoint right now AP should really be making a fuss about anything see that he is back in the league by the skin of his teeth. AP voiced that this problem is beyond him and his contract with the Vikings.
AP’s contract with the Vikings runs through 2017 and is scheduled to pay him $12.75 million this season, $15 million in 2016, and $16 million in 2017, also including $250,000 workout bonuses each season. The Vikings have already voiced that they don’t have any intentions to trade AP. I don’t think AP would have any problems with getting his money if he stays healthy and performs well.
AP has started up the debate of players getting granted contracts, which they should. I think now other players that are more likeable than AP should now throw their hat in ring ad come together to get granted contacts.
