Hits On and Off the Field

In my last post I talked about Ray McDonald’s domestic violence arrest from Monday. The NFL as whole has had a problem with domestic violence but violence as a whole. From 2000 to 2014 there were 713 arrests of NFL players 88 of them where for battery and 85 of those arrest where for domestic violence. Using those number there are 32 NFL teams and there are 2,656 players in the NFL.

Some say that the players are so violent because football is violent. I believe that is just straight up bull crap. If that was the case, and not to keep bringing up Chris Brown, but he sings for a living not play football. There are people who work in an office cubicle everyday that are extremely violent and beat their wife and whomever else everyday.  I feel that it is the person not the sport. The gridiron has nothing to do with a man hitting a women or any person for that matter. That is something mental or something about that way that person was raised or the life they have lived not the football field. I feel like if anything you should be able to let out your aggressions from life on the football field not on people.

I don’t think it’s just the NFL with the problem though and I don’t feel like football should be the blame for violence in people. Even though these players are apart of the NFL they are also men. Men with their own set of problems. I don’t think that their violent actions should be the face of the entire NFL. There are good people and bad people everywhere.

Tell me what you think and how you feel about the situation. This is just my opinion.
